Nintendo is back with a new announcement as the company is set to launch the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, Japan. The console maker is holding a Direct streaming event on August 19, 2024, at 3 PM PT but (unfortunately) won’t reveal any Switch 2 information.

Rumors of the next-gen Switch console have been circulating around for quite some time. Nintendo has previously confirmed that the “Switch 2” will be announced before April 2025 despite rumors suggesting a 2024 release, and it will still support the current Switch until at least March 2025

While the current models, including the OLED and Lite versions, have been successful, details about the Switch 2 are sparse. The upcoming console is rumored to feature a custom Nvidia chip and Ampere GPU architecture on the inside, magnetic Joy-Cons, and compatibility with existing controllers, though specifics are still unknown.

Nintendo also reported strong financial performance a few months ago, with a $9.5 billion revenue and successful first-party game sales.

Nintendo first announced its plans for such a museum back in 2021 and finally completed in May 2024. Located at the old Ogura Plant where Nintendo once made trading cards and repaired toys, the museum will highlight the company’s history and development.
