A recent Windows 11 beta pembaruan reveals that Microsoft is renaming the opt-in for “Tailored experience,” the personalized tips, ads, and recommendations on the Settings menu, into “Personalized offers” to word it best.

A spot by @PhantomOfEarth details the change on Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.3936, which has just arrived overnight. It also has a view of visual updates and changes here and there after renaming the option in the OOBE (out-of-box experience) screen a few weeks ago.

The toggle for Tailored experiences in Settings will also be replaced with "Personalized offers" and moved to the General privacy & security settings page, which is getting a refresh with a new name and some visual updates. Another spot by the trusted Windows 11 insider also reveals that this change will soon be applied to the European Economic Area (EEA) region.

Microsoft has a long not-so-good history when it comes to its advertising practices. So much so, that the know-it-all Recall feature was a flop at its launch for a PR disaster because of the lack of trust that its customers have.

And now, the Redmond tech giant appears to be trying to get things right, or so it seems, in some of the aspects of the operating system.

The KB5040535 update, or Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.3936, is now live for Windows 11’s Beta channel insiders. Besides a few fixes and improvements, the pembaruan also tests out the “Recommended for you” section whenever you click on the search box on the Microsoft Store.

You may call it an “ad” placement, that’s your right, but it’s actually a common practice for an app store to have a recommended section. Even Apple’s App Store does have it, on “Suggested” apps.
