Microsoft Edge is making changes to its Secure Network hub, but not everything is working just yet.

A recent discovery by browser digger @Leopeva64 on X shows that the hub now includes two buttons: “Get VPN for free” and “Not now.” But, clicking the “Get VPN” button currently does nothing. This suggests Microsoft is still working on the feature before it goes live for users.

The Secure Network feature in Edge is Microsoft’s built-in VPN, designed to offer safer browsing by encrypting user info and hiding IP addresses. This service is powered by Cloudflare and was initially introduced as part of Edge’s “Browser Essentials” hub nearly two years ago.

Now, Microsoft is bringing it back as a standalone hub in Edge’s Canary test builds, likely as part of an effort to improve its accessibility.

Recent updates have added new elements to the Secure Network, including labels like “Protected Traffic” and “Secured Wi-Fi” within the VPN dialog. These features seem aimed at making it clearer to users how and when their info is protected.

While the Secure Network hub is back in testing, its functionality is still incomplete. Microsoft will likely activate the “Get VPN for free” button in an upcoming pembaruan to give Edge users an easy way to enable the built-in VPN service.

In some Edge-related news, Edge on Android is also experimenting with AI-powered autofill, and the browser’s built-in Copilot now allows users to share AI-generated responses via links.
